At CJF, our mission is to educate, support, and connect young people in the Collie community. One of the most important ways juniors can deepen their knowledge, build meaningful relationships, and grow into responsible stewards of the breed is by joining the parent breed club for Collies, the Collie Club of America.
CJF and CCA share a common goal: investing in the future of the Collie through educated, engaged youth. Encouraging juniors to join the parent club strengthens that mission and creates a clear pathway from junior participation to lifelong involvement in the breed.
What is the Collie Club of America?
Founded in 1886, the Collie Club of America is one of the oldest parent breed clubs in the country. CCA is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting the Collie through education, ethical breeding practices, health research, and events that bring the Collie community together.
At the parent club, CCA:
-Maintains and protects the Collie Breed Standard
-Supports judges education and breeder education
-Promotes Collie health, history, and preservation
-Hosts the annual CCA National Specialty
-Encourages youth involvement and mentorship
Why is CCA membership important for Juniors?
Joining the parent club connects juniors directly to the heart of the breed.
Education beyond the Ring: CCA provides access to in-depth breed education, history, and mentorship that goes far beyond what can be learned at weekend shows. Juniors gain a deeper understanding of breed type, structure, temperament, and purpose.
A voice in the future of the breed: CCA members help shape the future of Collies. When juniors join early, they learn what it means to be responsible stewards of the breed and why parent club involvement matters.
National-level opportunities: CCA membership opens the door to involvement at the National Specialty, including junior-focused activities, learning experiences, and connections with breeders, judges, and mentors from across the country.
Mentorship and opportunity: Being part of the parent club connects juniors to experienced Collie people who are passionate about teaching, guiding, and encouraging the next generation.
Building strong foundations: CCA involvement helps juniors develop:
Sportsmanship
Leadership skills
Confidence and professionalism
A lifelong respect for purebred dogs and ethical practices
